Roast Broccoli in the Oven

Spread the seasoned broccoli florets on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer, ensuring they do not overlap. Roast the broccoli in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are crispy and slightly browned. Be sure to flip the broccoli halfway through the cooking time in order to ensure even roasting.

Serve

Then remove the broccoli from the oven and, if desired, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese while still hot. Finally, serve immediately and enjoy your oven-roasted broccoli!

Tips and variations for Oven Roasted Broccoli

  • If you are roasting frozen broccoli, the cooking time stays the same. Just toss it once, halfway through roasting. Then broil for the last 1-2 minutes.
  • The size of the broccoli pieces ultimately determines the cooking time. The smaller the broccoli, the quicker it cooks.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan. If the broccoli is too close together, it will steam instead of roasting because it emits moisture as it cooks.
  • Add fresh lemon juice to cooked broccoli for a bright pop of citrus flavor.
  • Craving something saucy? Drizzle with balsamic glaze for a sweet, savory dish.
  • Serve it as a snack or appetizer with a dipping sauce like ranch dressing or melted cheese.

FAQ

What is the best cooking method for broccoli?

Oven roasted broccoli is my favorite way to make broccoli because roasted vegetables are more flavorful. At high heat, the florets crisp on the outside, tenderize in the center, and develop a subtle sweetness that makes them truly irresistible.

How do you keep broccoli from burning in the oven?

Prevent broccoli from burning by coating the florets with oil. Also, keep an eye on the vegetables as they roast because cooking times vary based on the oven and the size of the broccoli.

Why is my roasted broccoli mushy?

In order to avoid soggy broccoli, make sure the florets are completely dry before seasoning. Also, ensure they are completely coated with the olive oil seasoning blend.

Make sure the pan is not overcrowded. If your roasted broccoli is still not as crispy as you would like, broil it for 1-2 minutes.
