Ingredients for Cabbage Steaks Recipe

To make roasted cabbage steaks, you will need the following ingredients:

  1. Head of Cabbage: I use green cabbage but you can use red cabbage if you prefer. Whichever variety of cabbage you use, ensure it feels heavy for its size, has a vibrant color. and no loose outer leaves.
  2. Olive oil: Drizzle this over the cabbage for a perfectly golden oven roast. It also tenderizes the veggie and helps the seasonings adhere to the surface of the cabbage.
  3. Seasoning: I use a simple but tasty mix of seasoned salt, garlic powder, and black pepper.

You can eat raw cabbage in salads or coleslaw. However, cooking cabbage can enhance its flavor and make it easier to digest.

How do you balance bitter cabbage?

Due to it’s sulfur content, cabbage naturally has a bitter taste. Luckily, cooking cabbage can mellow its bitterness. You can also offset that flavor by adding sugar, salt, or lemon (or another acid).
