Ingredients for Wonton Chips Recipe

You will need the following ingredients:

  1. Vegetable oil: Use a neutral-tasting cooking oil with a high smoke point to fry the wonton wrappers. Canola oil works as a substitute.
  2. Wonton wrappers: You can find these in the refrigerated section of most grocery stores or at your local Asian market. The Hong Kong variety is thinner and contains eggs whereas the Shangai wrappers are thicker, without eggs. Either will work; it is just a matter of preference.
  3. Salt: Just a sprinkle.

optional toppings

  • Onion powder
  • Sesame seeds

How to Make Wonton Chips

Add vegetable oil to a deep skillet and warm it up over medium heat. Do this for about 2-3 minutes or until it reaches 325°F.

Cut the wonton wrappers in half, diagonally down the middle. Separate all of the wrappers and place them in an overlapped pattern on a clean dry surface. This makes the frying process more efficient.

  • Once they have cooled, store leftover chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
