Ingredients

  • 2 cups Water
  • 1 cup Hot cereal (Cream of Wheat or Malt-o-Meal)
  • 1 cup Heavy cream or half-and-half
  • ½ cup Sugar (more or less to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon Vanilla extract optional
  • 2 tablespoons Butter

Instructions

  • Bring your water to a boil in a saucepan over medium-high heat. 
  • Once the water is boiling, turn the heat down to medium-low, and slowly pour in the hot cereal while stirring with a wooden spoon or whisk. 
  • Stir constantly to avoid lumps in the hot cereal. Simmer for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Once the mixture starts to thicken, gently pour in the heavy cream. 
  • Now add in the sugar, salt, cinnamon, and vanilla. Stir the hot cereal until everything is fully combined. Continue to simmer over low heat for about 5 minutes, remembering to stir frequently.
  • Remove the hot cereal from the heat and stir in your butter. 
  • Serve immediately.
